March 2013 monitoring

March 17, 2013 – overcast but comfortable temperature. With little rain recently, the flow from the storm culvert is still strong. Surface algae has begun to form upstream of the bridge. Saw some turtles below the sample site but no pigeons. The tire is still in the same spot in the stream across from the culvert, and there’s now another tire way upstream above the waterfall. There are also a number of broken concrete pieces that are painted pink (faded red?) on one side scattered in the stream. Not sure where they came from.

E-coli measurements are about the same at both the sample site and control site by the waterfall – averaging between 600 and 700 colonies.
